For more than 15 years, NNT Ar-Ge head-quartered in Turkey is successful in manufacturing nano-structured boron compounds, which can be used in numerous applications such as lubricants, polishing agents, functional surfaces and machine tools.

The Turkish technology company NNT Ar-Ge* concentrates on the development and production of nano-crystalline materials such as MCDP crystals (MCDP = boron diamond powder) as well as the application of these materials in high-tech products. NNT Ar-Ge has started its research and development activities with a group of scientists from the areas physics, chemistry and material science in 1992. Based on the work of the last 15 years, 22 applications are now ready for industrial launch.

Already when NNT Ar-Ge was founded 15 years ago, nanotechnologies were considered by international bodies of experts, as one of the most promising field of research activity of the future. Products containing nano-structured materials ought to change people’s life tremendously. The frantic development speed in this area during the last couple of years proves this prediction. NNT Ar-Ge has an important share on this economically growing field today. It intensifies resources and capital expenditures continuously to cope with the increasing importance of nanotechnologies for the world economy. NNT Ar-Ge maintains close contacts to the universities and research institutes such as the National Turkish Boron Research Institute (BOREN). NNT Ar-Ge is one of the leading nanotechnology companies in Turkey.

NNT Ar-Ge is worldwide the first enterprise, which is able to produce 4-5 nanometers small MCDP crystals in large quantities using detonation techniques. The unique characteristics of these nano-particles make plenty of applications possible such as super heat conducting materials for cooling micro chips, curable plastics with properties similar to iron, electro-chemically and chemically deposited ultra-hard metal layers and aluminum alloys with very large hardness and strength. Another important application are tribological materials, which drive friction and abrasion in working mechanical systems almost to zero. This lowers the maintenance and part replacement cost of machines. The friction reduction furthermore decreases the energy consumption, leading for example to a lowered fuel consumption of a car (10-15% less gasoline or Diesel). NNT Ar-Ge adds these tribological materials to motor and gear oils, which are used in industry and the automobile sector. The MCDP crystals are also applied in the medical section (tumor treatment) as well as the military and the sensor system area.

NNT Ar-Ge’s flagship is the product line BORPower^® (Nano Bor Crystal Lubricants for motor vehicles). BORPower^® is already distributed in 14 countries. It offers the following advantages:

It is known as highly efficient yet environmentally safe oil additive as shown in several test campaigns and certificates from the TÜV (Technical Inspection Agency) Germany, the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Germany, and the X-ray analysis laboratory Dr. Ermrich, Germany.
